Wine Media

Association

The International Wine Media Association exists for the modern generation of wine writers and creators. Whether you publish in print, online, or on social platforms, IWMA provides a mark of credibility that shows wineries, PR agencies, and the wider trade that you are a recognised professional voice in today’s wine conversation.

What we do

Wine media has changed. The stories of vineyards, bottles, and people are now shared not just in newspapers and magazines, but also through podcasts, newsletters, Instagram feeds, YouTube channels, and beyond. The new generation of wine communicators is more diverse, more creative, and more international than ever.

That is why we created the International Wine Media Association (IWMA): a professional body that reflects the way wine is talked about today.

What is IWMA?
The IWMA is a selective, membership organisation for writers, journalists, broadcasters, and digital creators making a recognised contribution to wine media. We are professional but modern, serious about standards without being old-fashioned, and international in outlook.

What membership means
Members can display the IWMA badge as a mark of credibility, showing that they have been reviewed and accepted into the Association. Membership signals to wineries, PR agencies, and trade bodies that you are a genuine, trusted communicator. There are no outdated hierarchies, every member is recognised equally for their work and their impact.

Our aims

– To give members credibility and professional recognition.
– To unite traditional and digital voices under a single modern standard.
– To create opportunities for members through invitations to tastings and receiving samples.
– To encourage diversity, inclusivity, and fresh perspectives in wine communication.

Why now?
The wine industry has always relied on storytellers. But in today’s fast-changing media landscape, there is a need for an organisation that keeps pace: professional, international, and designed for the platforms where wine is now experienced. That is the role of the IWMA.

How to join
